This is parenthood … Never are the realities of parenting more apparent than when you’re told your great uncle has died but you need to comfort your little ones who are sad and struggling because Daddy has gone back to work in the office for the first time in months.

The chance to process will come. Maybe when you’re alone in the shower and your sorrow will wash over you along with the streams of water washing away a difficult day. Or maybe when all is quiet just before sleep and your thoughts have space enough to think of the what-ifs and never-dids.

But for now it’s cuddles and breakfast and upbeat music to help soothe you all and get you through the day ahead.
